A mom holds up her bouquet after receiving it for delivery on Mother's Day

Mother's Day: 20|20 Vision

Some florists may look at me crazy for saying this but, I absolutely love Mother's Day! The Old Soul has facilitated hundreds of flower deliveries to moms, aunties, and grandmas for almost a decade- this will be our 8th year!

With that being said as a business owner, I tend to prioritize the quality of the flower arrangement and delivery experience over marketing, website updates and general bookkeeping. Did you know a relevant blog on your e-commerce site helps customers find you?? I sure did! Do I write blog posts consistently and stay on top of monthly publishing/SEO? Ummm... as of one blog post ago I do!

All this to say, I found a handwritten blog post from 2020 (throwback Thursday omg AI wasn't even out yet), in true Type B fashion, that never made it to the website.

Now is it's time to shine:

Mother's Day 2020 Recap- A Vow to Stretch Daily

Now that we're closer to Father's Day than we are Mother's Day (like I said, Type B) I guess I have time for a recap of Mama's Day 2020.

I have never had the opportunity to spread so much joy in such a short period of time, and I loved getting my hands on local, supreme-quality cuts, and having genuine, heart-felt orders to fulfill.

With that being said, I am a one-woman show still working a 40 hour week in the supermarket floral sector (note from the future: I work 24-32 hours a week now after a psychotic break jk jk no but forreal...you come across a 40 hour worker WITH a successful side hustle give them a deep, respectful bow and a foot massage). I felt the extra hours and late nights to early mornings in my muscles and bones. I slept for 14 hours straight after Mother's Day weekend and when I woke up Monday it felt like I had been hit by a train

So, this is my public vow to stretch daily, and to value my body and the hard work it puts in to satisfy the mind. Anyone who does tedious work with their hands knows the cramping and the twangs of strain that can occur.

I vow to be mindful of even the smallest muscles that aid my joy-driven mission so that I can do this for as long as I please, and so that by next Mother's Day I can fulfill even more orders for those who want to express their gratitude and love in the best way possible: flowers delivered to Mom's doorstep.
